Antique doll house dental cabinet with gabled roof

What a rare and gorgeous find this is!  Made in the 1930s by American Cabinet Co. of Two Rivers, WI, this dental cabinet with all its nooks and crannies was one of approx. 300 made. It was made in the shape of a doll house to make children feel more comfortable while in the dentist's office. The American Cabinet Co. made two styles of these....one with a flat roof (made about 1925) and these with the gabled roof. There were only 25 gabled roof cabinets made and we were lucky enough to stumble on this one.

Securely attached to its original columnar style base, it has a glass insert on the flat portion of its roof for sitting tools and trays. The top drawer is also glass lined for mixing powders and potions. Columns on the cabinet face serve as handles for the doors and drawers (8 drawers total).

Most drawers are metal lined which is original. One, however, has the original milk glass inserts which was also made by American Cabinet Co. The large compartment which is covered by a door also has its original milk glass shelves and inserts in place.

Original metal manufacturer's tags are in place and in tact. They show it was made by American Cabinet Co. of Two River, WI with a serial number of 81844.

Originally these had windows painted on the panels shown at the cabinet's front. However, years of use have removed much of the paint. We've elected NOT to restrore these areas and will leave that up to the new owners.

This comes to us from the original owner who retired several years ago and is cleaning out their basement. It is exquisite and one of the favorites in our showroom!

Shabby cottage painted rocking chair

We really enjoy our little rocker like this. Made from oak, this guy has a caned seat and back with curved edges on both. This one has been painted with a flat white latex paint.

These typically have smaller seat areas and this one is no exception (measures approx. 18" across x 16 1/2" deep). The back is about 25" high x 13 1/4" across between side rails. Its smaller scale fits nicely into the bedroom or sewing area and its comfort is unsurpassed!

Joints on this are secure and tight....we found no wobble or places where joints had backed apart or separated. The caning is also complete and securely attached to the chair.

Our research shows this style rocker was originally made in the mid-west during the 1870s -- 1880s. This cottage reproduction dates to the 1980s.

Arts & Crafts oak bentwood rocking chair c1800s

This beautifully oversized Arts & Crafts rocking chair is made from darkly stained oak. It has spindle style slats across back that set into the shaped frame. Bentwood arms flow gracefully from the back's frame to create a smooth and seamless line. Legs have a spool type detail. Best of all, this lovely craftsmanship is secure in its joints with no splits, cracks or breaks and no wobble.

Oversized, the seat has an inside clearance of approx. 18" from side to side x 17" deep. The back is proportioned in accordance with the seat and has inside measurements of about 15 1/2" horizontally x 31" vertically.

We can only imagine how many babies this wonderful old rocker has put to sleep. Its large size warrants a special place in the master suite.
